BAK Regional Economic Database: Data sets

BAK Regional Economic Database: data presenting the economic and industry-specific development and location attractiveness of over 1,500 regions
BAK provides up-to-date, comparable and detailed data on economic potential, industries and location attractiveness of over 1,500 regions. The Regional Economic Database offers the unique oportunity to analyse regional questions in an international context – this is the relevant level of analysis in a globalised world.
The data cover a total of 20 years up until the preceding year. Allowing for structural and trend analysis up until the preceding year, they are significantly more up-to-date than the data provided by official statistical offices. Data can be combined as required, allowing precisely fitting, data-supported analysis of your questions.

The provided data sets comprise:

  • precisely fitting regional and country samples
  • detailed industry data covering 115 individual sectors and numerous industry aggregates and clusters (life sciences, financial market, trade, logistics …)
  • meaningful indicators of economic performance, such as gross value added and GDP (per capita, nominal and real, in CHF, EUR and USD), productivity and labour costs
  • selected, established indicators relating to decisive aspects of regional location attractiveness, such as transport connections, taxation, regulation, innovation and skilled labour.

A list of regions, industries and indicators is available here. Data are usually delivered in Excel format. Other formats are available on request.
